Furniture + Friends
Given the prompt “Hold the viewers attention for 60 seconds” this video attempts to do just that. It uses the rhetoric of sameness in the clothing and a coordinated action to shift the somewhat ridiculous action from the realm of pointless to the realm of conceptual art.
The second video, shown below in part ( linked to in full here: Friends video), uses nostalgic visual cues, shot on an old digital camera which only shot in 15 second intervals with no sound, to depict 3 people doing the same actions. The work elevates mundane everyday scenes of life to scenes of beauty pointing viewers to look at their life in the same way.
